Regularity and Recognition

The Patent of Constitution, 12 November 2016 · Grand Lodge of Kazakhstan

The Grand Lodge of Kazakhstan descends from the United Grand Lodge of England through an unbroken chain of consecration. Each link was formed upon no fewer than three regularly constituted Lodges, before accredited witnesses.

  1. 1813

    United Grand Lodge of England

    London

The premier Grand Lodge of the regular Craft.

  2. 1913

    Grande Loge Nationale Française

    Paris

Recognised by the United Grand Lodge of England.

  3. 1995

    Grand Lodge of Russia

    Moscow

Consecrated by the Grande Loge Nationale Française on 24 June 1995, and recognised by the United Grand Lodge of England in 1996.

  4. 2016

    Grand Lodge of Kazakhstan

    Almaty

Consecrated by the Grand Lodge of Russia on 12 November 2016, before the delegations of Austria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova and Turkey.

The Three Standards of Regularity

The Commission on Information for Recognition of the Conference of Grand Masters of Masons in North America assesses every Grand Lodge against three Standards for Recognition, adopted in 1952. The Grand Lodge of Kazakhstan meets each of them.

  1. 1

    Legitimacy of origin

    “Legitimacy of origin.”

The Grand Lodge of Kazakhstan was consecrated on 12 November 2016 by the Grand Lodge of Russia, in an unbroken line of consecration that runs through the Grande Loge Nationale Française to the United Grand Lodge of England.

  2. 2

    Exclusive territorial jurisdiction

“Exclusive territorial jurisdiction, except by mutual consent and/or treaty.”

It has held exclusive territorial jurisdiction in the Republic of Kazakhstan since its consecration.

  3. 3

    Adherence to the Ancient Landmarks

“Adherence to the Ancient Landmarks – specifically, a Belief in God, the Volume of the Sacred Law as an indispensable part of the Furniture of the Lodge, and the prohibition of the discussion of politics and religion.”

Its Constitution requires of every Brother a belief in the Great Architect of the Universe, places the Volume of the Sacred Law open in every Lodge at work, and forbids the discussion of religion and politics in the Lodge.
