Every candidate comes of his own free will. The Grand Lodge of Kazakhstan admits men of good character who believe in a Supreme Being, whatever their faith, and who wish to improve themselves and to serve others.
Who may join
A man
Regular Freemasonry admits men. The Grand Lodge of Kazakhstan holds no Masonic relations with Lodges of mixed or female membership.
Who believes in a Supreme Being
Every Brother believes in the Great Architect of the Universe, whatever his religion. He takes his obligation on the Volume of the Sacred Law of his own faith.
Of good character
A candidate is free of any criminal record incompatible with the moral standards of the Craft, and is known for his honesty.
Of his own free will
A man asks to join because he wishes to. No one is pressed, and a candidate may withdraw at any stage.
“The Persons admitted Members of a Lodge must be good and true Men, free-born, and of mature and discreet Age, no Bondmen, no Women, no immoral or scandalous Men, but of good Report.”
The Charges of a Free-Mason, III. Of Lodges. The Constitutions of the Free-Masons, London, 1723
The path to the Lodge
- 01
Write to the Grand Lodge
Complete the candidate form below. The Office of the Grand Secretary acknowledges every petition.
- 02
Meet the Lodge
At least two members of a Lodge meet you, two or three times, so that you and the Lodge come to know each other.
- 03
The ballot
The Brethren of the Lodge ballot on your petition. The decision may take some time, because every candidate is examined with care.
- 04
Initiation
If the ballot is favourable, the Lodge fixes the date of your initiation and you enter the Craft as an Entered Apprentice.
Before you write
Before you receive the candidate form, ask yourself these five questions. Every candidate is examined with care before he is admitted to the next stage, and the information he gives is used for that purpose alone and is never passed to third parties.
Readiness to serve
Freemasonry asks its members to serve others, to help society and to improve the world around them. Am I ready to give my time and effort to others and to take part in charitable work?
Commitment to high moral standards
Freemasons follow strict moral principles: honesty, justice, fidelity and respect for others. Am I ready to keep these standards in my daily life, inside the Lodge and outside it?
Self-improvement and spiritual growth
Freemasonry asks its members to improve themselves without end. Am I ready to study the philosophical and moral questions of life and to work at knowing myself?
Respect for tradition
Freemasonry is rich in traditions and ceremonies handed down from generation to generation. Am I ready to accept and respect them, and to follow them with understanding?
Respect for confidentiality
Freemasonry asks its members to keep the confidences of the Brotherhood. Am I able to keep them in my dealings with other members of the Lodge?
